I have used several sports medicine/exercise boots for my horse, but after he managed a soft tissue injury on his hind leg and was given the all clear by the vet, I was advised by my vet to find a good pair of support boots for him (SMBs or Exercise). Well, I tried a fellow boarder's Professional's Choice boots (size Large), and they just made my gelding's leg hot and I was not happy. These boots keep his legs cool while supporting and increasing the blood flow to his tendons/ligaments. They stayed in place, and the straps are secure. I also love that the velcro has "strips" on the receiving end so you know exactly where to place the straps - unlike other boots, which are just made from material that velcro sticks to (PC/Tough1/any other boot). This ensures you place the boot correctly! Love these!
I've had my mare for about 3 years and she has always had problems with her hind legs. She was a rescue and had some previous injuries, but her hind legs are a little underslung as well which I think puts extra stress on them. She has a capped hock and windpuffs on both legs and after trying EVERYTHING I could think of I just gave up, because they didn't seem to be bothering her. A few months ago my co-worker recommended the BOT products and after wrestling with the steep price for a while I finally caved and got the sport boots and the hock boots. BEST. DECISION. EVER! After three weeks of wearing them the capped hock has softened considerably and the wind puffs are almost completely gone. I put them on her whenever I can, but especially before and during a ride and when she's in her stall for the night or on bad-weather days. Her movements when I ride seem so much looser and easier now and when she has to be cooped up in her stall her legs no longer get "stocked up." I am so excited that I finally found a product that actually WORKS and prevents me from having to rack up hundreds of dollars in vet bills! I now have the gloves on order for my hands and can't wait until I can afford the western saddle pad. And the mesh sheet. And the scarf. And everything else...haha! Thank you for such a great product and you definitely have a repeat customer!
These are absolutely amazing! Our horse has trouble filling the legs and when we ride with them the legs don't swell. The horse is so much softer and better in our legs after we started riding with these!
I have had them for a while now and am still very satisfied with the Back on Track protectors! I bought them after the horse had several injuries above the bullet and as a result, it left a thick damp leg. These protectors protect the legs well, sit unwise nicely around the legs and helps for better circulation. Extra important, the legs are not wet after work !! It helped my horse enormously, because now, partly due to the protectors, she no longer has a fat leg and her galls are getting less. I know that I no longer use protectors other than BOT!
Have used my Back on Track coatings on all four legs, about five times now. The pads on the front legs sit well and stay in place during work, but the Velcro on the back pads goes up repeatedly during work, so you have to cancel training to adjust the pads. This has resulted in damage to the hind legs, and impaired fit and functionality. This is not good enough for Back on track.
