The drop noseband bridle - the distinguishing features

The drop noseband bridle, like most other bridles, consists of two cheek pieces and a noseband. Its shape makes it particularly suitable for horses with longer noses and long mouths. Correctly buckled, the noseband transmits the action from the horse's mouth to the nose bone and the chin groove. The chinstrap ensures that the bridle remains steady in the horse's mouth. The lower position of the noseband and the effect on the chin groove tend to make this noseband a little sharper. The drop noseband bridle is not suitable for all horses and riders and should therefore be used with caution.

You can also find pretty browbands and beautifully finished designs for the drop noseband bridle at Horze.

The drop noseband bridle, is mainly characterised by the noseband being fastened closer to the nostrils. In contrast to the English noseband, the noseband is four or five finger widths above the nostrils. This means you should never buckle the drop noseband bridle too tightly, so that your horse's breathing is not impeded.

The drop noseband bridle is particularly suitable for horses that try to avoid the lateral rein aids in the mouth. This can be prevented with this bridle and thus supports the fine communication between you and your horse.
